Group pushes Boston ‘straight pride’ parade, sparks backlash

Super Happy Fun America - the organizers of the group "on behalf of the straight community" have been using the 55-year-old Once Upon a Time in Hollywood actor's name and image as the mascot for their agenda.

According to a Facebook post by Mark Sahady, the Boston Straight Pride Parade was approved by the City of Boston as of Thursday evening, after Sahady and others involved filed a discrimination complaint against the city.

Organizers hope to travel the same route as Boston Pride, which begins in Copley Square and goes through the South End on the way to Boston Common and City Hall.

The proposed parade presents itself as an alternative to the annual Gay Pride Parade, describing itself as an opportunity to "celebrate heterosexuality".

The so-called "mascot" of a straight pride organization wants nothing to do with the movement, it seems.
