Roman Abramovich is eager to sign FC Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho to replace Chelsea FC star Eden Hazard this summer, according to a report in Spain.

"When you look at the season, [Manchester City and Liverpool] are far better than us", the 28-year-old asserted.

Chelsea has already locked up Borussia Dortmund winger Christian Pulisic who will arrive this summer to help cushion the blow of Hazard's likely departure.

"It would be a real shame for any club to lose a top player like Hazard".

When talking about how the club can progress, Hazard spoke as if he expects to be part of the team come the 2019/20 campaign, despite expectations he will leave for Real Madrid.
