Smith Says Klay Thompson Isn't Happy, Tired of Getting 'The Crumbs'

Once the season is over, Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson will be free agents.

Yet thanks to Kevin Durant, one sportsbook is giving them incredible odds to win the NBA Finals next season.

While he didn't go into detail on Durant besides pointing out the obvious fact that the Warriors want to re-sign him, Wojnarowski did offer some interesting insight into a potential destination for Thompson.

The Knicks have a league-high $74 million in max salary cap space and will be ready to use that to lure Durant, but more than just the money, the forward will look to join a team that will immediately allow him to challenge for the title.

New York Knicks fans are all coming together and it's actually quite handsome. And Thompson, unhappy though he may be, has been a team-first player in his career in Golden State, playing elite perimeter defense and patiently waiting for his shots on a team loaded with All Stars.

Kyrie Irving (L) and USA's guard Kevin Durant look on from the substitutes' bench during a Men's round Group A basketball match between China and US at the Carioca Arena 1 during the Rio 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Aug. 6, 2016. They are followed by the Raptors and Lakers, who are each at 20-1.

According to Los Angeles Clippers point guard Patrick Beverley, the best player in the National Basketball Association is Kevin Durant. It is widely believed Thompson will stay. The Knicks and Lakers will have to lower their expectation and find the right fit for their respective franchises.

Well, on Tuesday morning, Stephen A. Smith reported that person this time is Klay Thompson. Add in the real possibility of landing the number one overall pick, which would most likely translate into drafting Zion Williamson out of Duke, the Knicks odds of 16/1 start to make more sense. Two other players who are still now competing in the NBA Playoffs along with Durant could certainly increase a teams championship odds for next season.

Durant has played a key role in helping the Warriors win back-to-back titles since he arrived in 2016 and they are now favorites to lift the Larry O'Brien trophy for the third straight year.
