Man arrested after boy falls from balcony at U.S. shopping centre

A 5-year-old boy injured when he reportedly was thrown over a third-floor railing and fell 40 feet Friday at Mall of America continued to be treated in a Twin Cities hospital on Sunday.

A 5-year-old child who was thrown off a 3rd floor balcony at the Mall of America faces multiple surgeries.

The 5-year-old boy "enjoys soccer, playing with friends and family and playing hockey with his brother and sister", according to the GoFundMe page. The GoFundMe campaign had raised almost $400,000 as of Sunday morning.

At a press conference earlier Friday, Bloomington Police Chief Jeff Potts said police responded to the southeast court at the mall around 10:17 a.m.

The boy was taken to Children's Hospital in Minneapolis with serious injuries. The family is requesting privacy, I think that we just want to acknowledge that this is a horrific situation. They say he fell almost 40 feet after a man threw him off the balcony Friday.

Aranda is being held on suspicion of attempted murder, and Potts said the police are expecting to submit the case to prosecutors by midday Monday in support of the charges.

In a separate incident three months later, Aranda reportedly threw ice water and tea at a woman in a mall restaurant when she declined to buy him food, CNN reported.

The golfing champion's game suffered after he went through four different back surgeries and four different knee surgeries . But that also means that it was not a great day for bookmakers across the land, who had to pay out all those Tiger bets.

Authorities described the boy's injuries as life-threatening and said witnesses gave him first aid.

He reiterated that the family did not know Aranda and said they "are completely clueless as to why this monster would target their family with this heinous act of violence".

"At this time, we do not believe that there is a relationship between the child or the family of the child", the Police Chief said on Friday.

Mall of America officials said any more information about the incident will come from police.

"As the Bloomington Police Department continues to investigate how and why this isolated incident happened, we will provide our full co-operation". At one point, Aranda had a trespass notice banning him from the mall, but it was no longer in effect.

Police are on the scene of an incident at the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota.

In one case, he pleaded guilty to a gross misdemeanor charge of interfering with a peace officer in connection with a July 4, 2015, incident where he was seen throwing objects from the upper level off the mall.
