The IMF and the World Bank have stated they are ready to move quickly to help ease Venezuela's humanitarian crisis, but the issue of leadership is standing in the way, reported.

In his announcement Wednesday, Maduro said this new aid campaign should be "managed without political maneuvering, without farcical politicization and through the channels of legality and respect".

Guaido says hundreds of thousands of Venezuelans are in urgent need of food and medicine. That leaves people's wages all but worthless.

Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., is urging USA military action to get aid into Venezuela, the Tampa Bay Times is reporting.

The government is saddled with a drop in revenue from oil - the source of 96 percent of its hard currency - and its banishment from financial markets because of United States economic sanctions.

"I can not understand his arrogance and self-importance, his racial supremacism", Maduro said. Washington, meanwhile, continues to introduce new sanctions to cripple Venezuela's oil exports and prevent the Latin American nation from conducting trade.

The visit comes as Washington considers more sanctions against Maduro's government and pushes Russian Federation to remove its troops from Venezuela.

Venezuela's Ambassador Samuel Moncada stated the obvious, that this is a threatened U.S. invasion, and urged the council to do something to "stop this war of Donald Trump".

Some 3.4 million Venezuelans have left the country and the United Nations predicts that will rise to some 5 million by the end of the year.
