Google's Human-Sounding AI 'Google Duplex' is Coming to iPhones

Those of you who own a smart display like the Lenovo Smart Display or the Google Home Hub might notice a change in Google Assistant over the new few days. An update will soon be disseminated by the tech giant that will allow smart displays to support Assistant's "Continued Conversation" feature. It hasn't gotten to feature parity everywhere just yet - as you can see here, it was several months before Continued Conversations made the jump to smart displays, after launching on smart speakers. Google released "Continued Conversation" a year ago to make Home speakers listen a little longer to catch additional commands. This effectively reduces the number of times users have to say, "OK Google" or "Hey Google", and in the context of a normal conversation, it makes sense since it seems unnatural to keep repeating wake words over and over.

To turn on Continued Conversation, head into Google Assistant Settings→Preferences→Continued Conversation and tap on the toggle.

It can also ask basic information about the business such as whether or not the business is open for a holiday or if the hours arent listed on Google Maps. For ending a conversation, you can always.

Google is expanding its Duplex restaurant reservation service in American states but only 43 states have confirmed the expansion. Unlike iOS and Android apps which have a changelog and history of updates, smart speakers magically get pushed updated from Amazon and Google, for better or worse. It's also easier to manage multi-room audio with the displays, as well.

Check out the following video to see how Google Duplex works. You can also remove photos from the device easily with your voice. Let us know in the comments.

Analysts believe that with Google's AI reservation system expanding to the majority of US states, consumers and enthusiasts alike will have a clearer understanding of how restaurant owners and users feel about a robot making restaurant reservations.
