President Donald Trump is heading to Alabama to survey damage from a deadly tornado outbreak that devastated a small town, killing almost two dozen people.

According to tornado researcher Richard Stokoe at the University of South Wales, elevated death tolls in Alabama can largely be ascribed to the density of mobile homes, housing nearly 15% of the state's population, the geography of the region and type of coniferous vegetation.

But even with a plan, it's important to know the differences between severe weather advisories issued by the National Weather Service. Winds in the area reached 170 miles per hour.
