Satellite images show expansion, activity at two North Korean missile bases

"Satellite images show that the base remains active", an institute report states, CNN reported.

The bases are believed to serve as shelters for mobile missile launchers, and would be able to store the country's newest long-range missiles, including those capable of carrying nuclear warheads.

But National Security Adviser John Bolton said Tuesday that there should be another summit with Kim.

"Whatever Kim says about his desire for denuclearization, North Korea continues to produce and deploy nuclear armed missiles", he told CNN.

US officials did not immediately comment on the open-source findings by researchers.

Choe Ryong Hae, vice chairman of North Korea's ruling party, delivered the eulogy, praising the former Kim Chol Man for his contributions to North Korea's defenses.

But the North has rejected demands for what it calls "unilateral" disarmament, and has instead sought unspecified reciprocal United States measures in a gradual process.

"We watch North Korea very closely", Pentagon spokesperson Lt. Col. Chris Logan told CNN. "We will not discuss matters of intelligence".

North Korea wants sanctions relief, the end-of-war declaration and other reciprocal measures from the United States, arguing it has taken some steps, like dismantling its nuclear testing facility and releasing American detainees.

While Kim is not violating any agreement with the US or South Korea by continuing to produce and deploy existing types of missiles, the identification of yet another active North Korean missile base comes at a time when some members of the Trump administration are declaring that Pyongyang has failed to uphold its end of the bargain thus far.

"North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has cleared three days later this month to make a historic first visit to Seoul to discuss ridding the Korea peninsula of nuclear weapons", reports the New York Post. "That's why I think the President thinks that another summit is likely to be productive". "They have not lived up to the commitments so far", he told The Wall Street Journal's annual CEO Council conference.

Hwang Pyong So, one of Kim Jong Un's top aides, was not present at the funeral, but a South Korean government official who spoke to South Korean paper Segye Ilbo said his absence does not hold "major significance".

In his meeting with Trump, Kim made a vague pledge to "work toward the complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula" in return for "new" relations and security guarantees from Washington.

Bolton added that, if the North follows through on its promises, .

But despite the meetings and ongoing talks, many in Washington remain skeptical of the North Korea's seriousness.

"North Korea and the USA appear to be making headway", a high-ranking South Korean government source told the Hankyoreh paper.
