Rudy Giuliani claims his Twitter account was invaded

Rudy Giuliani claims his Twitter account was invaded

Here's what happened. Giuliani was referring to a previous tweet in which he made a typo when referring to the G-20 conference in Argentina.

Possibly trying to get the most out of his 280 characters or maybe just unfamiliar with phone keyboards, he emitted the spaces between the periods and the first letter of the following sentence. He then created a page with a simple message, which anyone who clicked on Giuliani's accidental link would see: "Donald J. Trump is a traitor to our country". When publishing his tweet, Giuliani did not notice that Twitter had turned it blue, indicating it was clickable.

But the former Mayor of New York City is catching some flak for complaining about how Twitter "allowed someone to invade (his) text with a disgusting anti-President message", revealing to anyone with a basic understanding of how Twitter works, that Mr. Giuliani is...not someone with a basic understanding of how Twitter works.

"The same thing-period no space-occurred later and it didn't happen", Giuliani said in his tweet.

In August, he accidentally wrote "hate 'me" rather than "hate 'em" leading several users to respond that they were happy to comply.

According to her, 70 million people had been infected of HIV, and 35 million have died of the infection since discovery in 1983. More people living with HIV are now receiving treatment that is allowing them to live longer, healthier lives.

A Twitter spokesman said "the accusation that we're artificially injecting something into a tweet is completely false".

Once he even told reporters he had toured a rural New Hampshire hospital where a woman rumoured to be his mistress worked to learn about its cybersecurity program.

Twitter turns text into a hyperlink only if it recognises the letters after a full stop as representing an established top-level domain (TLD) name.

Still, that doesn't directly answer Giuliani's claim that he couldn't recreate the issue a second time. It's similar to.co.uk in the United Kingdom or.us in the United States. For example, writing out Twitter.com in a tweet would create a link to Twitter's homepage.

Giuliani has some history with technology. His consulting firm, Giuliani Partners, has a nominally cyber-focused subsidiary that does little actual technical work, and the man himself briefly served as (reportedly hapless) cybersecurity adviser to the White House.
