Convicted murderer caught crossing border near San Ysidro

Migrants who walked and hitchhiked for two months through Central America and Mexico are now faced with dire living conditions and a lengthy US asylum process.

The decision not to prosecute came despite President Donald Trump's vow that the USA will not tolerate lawlessness and after extensive preparations were made for the caravan, including deployment of thousands of active-duty troops to the border.

"In April, another MS-13 member, Herberth Geovani Argueta-Chavez, 18, was apprehended after illegally entering the USA with a group suspected to be part of the caravan that headed for the border last spring".

Homeland Security said he and the two men he was caught with are being processed for deportation.

"The perpetrators will be prosecuted", she said then.

A "handful" of Central American migrants launched a "hunger strike" this week; telling reporters they're protesting the Mexican authorities now blocking them from reaching the United States border.

Many plan to seek asylum in the USA but may have to wait months because the US government only processes about 100 of those cases a day at the San Ysidro border crossing in San Diego.

Whatever the US and Mexico plan to do, it must be done quickly.

Tear gas was sacked at the migrant group, including women and children.

He also was being held pending immigration processing and repatriation to Honduras, with no criminal charges filed.

Approximately 7,000 migrants remain on the Mexican side of the border demanding to be let into the United States. It was unclear why they weren't being charged criminally with illegal entry under the Trump administration's "zero tolerance" policy.

After President Donald Trump claimed that there were MS-13 gang members amongst the thousands of migrants headed toward the southern border, many left-wing news outlets said the president was going off with no evidence.
